A discussion group · Just getting started

A space for people who like to think out loud.

The Cicero Forum is a small, informal group for law students and curious minds who want to talk about law, policy, ideas, and the world. No performance. Just honest conversation.

What is this

We started this because good conversations are rare.

Most online spaces reward hot takes over careful thinking. We wanted something different — a small group where you can actually explore an idea without it turning into a debate competition or a pile-on.

Cicero is named after the Roman statesman who believed that the health of a society depended on the quality of its public discourse. We're not claiming to live up to that — we're just trying to have better conversations.

We're early. The group is small. That's intentional.

What we talk about
⚖️ Law & Legal Theory
Cases, constitutional questions, legal philosophy, how the law actually works.
🏛️ Politics & Policy
How decisions get made, who makes them, and what the tradeoffs look like.
📚 Books & Ideas
Reading recommendations, arguments worth revisiting, thinkers worth knowing.
🌍 Society & Current Affairs
What's happening in the world and what it might mean.
🧠 Philosophy & Ethics
The harder questions. Moral frameworks, how we reason, what we owe each other.
📈 Economics & Markets
How economies work, what the numbers actually mean, development and inequality.

Who it's for

Law students, mostly. Curious people, broadly.

We started with law students in mind — people who spend a lot of time thinking about arguments, institutions, and how the world is structured. But the forum is open to anyone who engages thoughtfully.

You don't need credentials. You need curiosity and a willingness to listen as well as speak.

FAQ
Anyone. We started with law students and connections in mind, but the forum is open to anyone who's genuinely curious and wants to engage seriously. No particular background required.
Yes, completely free. We're just starting out and this is about building something good, not monetising it.
We're still figuring out the format, honestly. Likely a mix of async text discussion and occasional group calls. We'll share more once you're in.
Good. That's the point. The only expectation is that you engage with ideas rather than attacking people. Disagreement done well is what makes conversations worth having.
As much as you want to put in. There's no minimum. We'd rather have people who show up occasionally with something real to say than people who post constantly without saying much.

Come and think with us.
